Ok, so you got a website – now what? Can anyone find it? The sad and simple fact of the matter is that just about anyone can build a website now a days, but getting traffic to it on the other hand is another story! Sure some websites look like your child built it while others appear to have been developed by a professional. And I say appeared to have been developed because with the technology out there these days, pretty much anyone can build a professional looking website for less that $5 a month.

Promoting Your Website: Well shortly after finding out that just because you have your own website, doesn’t mean that you’re going to start getting rich with it as you may or may not have discovered already. So what do you do about that? First you might start looking around on the Internet for ways to promote it and depending on your financial resources, you might also start throwing money at it but it wont be long before you start to believe that actually having some
website success is not possible.
Luckily, this is not exactly true. While it is quite difficult to start having immediate success with your website, it is not entirely impossible. If you’re like most new webmasters (yours truly included), you begin to start trying everything that you can find on the Internet to get visitors to your website. Unfortunately this can be a tale-chasing contest that will wear you out physically and emotionally. For some of us however, it takes a little longer before we decide to give up. And giving up on your website is the only sure way to fail with it. In fact, Thomas Edison had more than 10,000 ‘failed attempts’ and creating his light bulb and I don’t know about you, but I would have probably given up after the first few hundred failed attempts.
Being Stubborn is A Good Quality: Fortunately for
me, I’m pretty hard headed and I don’t give up too easy and after more than ten years of messing around on the Internet with web design and promotions, I am beginning to see flickers of light at the end of the tunnel. Granted I’m not an artist by any stretch of the imagination, and there are tens of thousands if not millions of nicer looking websites than anything I could ever dream up out there, but one thing I have learned is how to actually begin to get some long term and steady website traffic to my website without having to be a graphics artist. Thankfully you don’t have to be an artist to have a successful website.
In fact, whether it looks nice or not really has nothing to
do with getting visitors to it. Having a nice looking website does make a difference if you plan to convert those visitors into customers, but that’s not exactly what we’re talking about in this article; we’re talking about site promotions and how to get visitors to your website so that you can begin to have some success with it.
The Internet Guru: When I first found out about the
Internet in 1994, I had no idea that many years later people would call me an expert or Internet Guru. In fact, I kind of hated being called that since I had no more idea about how to actually get rich with my website than you do right now. Sure I wanted to and aspired to do so, but actually knowing how to achieve it was another story! People told me that I was lucky to have been playing around with computers since the mid 1980’s but in all honesty, that really had nothing to do with having any success on the Internet. In May of 1994 when I started my first “real business” it was a Heating and Air Conditioning company since that was what I really knew how to do and I had been doing that
sort of work for the 6 years prior…
So What’s a Computer Really Good For Anyway? …I
soon thought to myself, that in order to have success with my new heating and cooling business, that I would need a home computer and since I could not afford to buy a brand new one, I built it from parts and pieces thanks to a good friend of mine, named Roger who had a computer store that he sold parts and pieces of computer systems that he acquired from his programming and computer consulting business. I discovered that Roger was also a contractor as well, in the fence repair and maintenance business. http://www.safergate.com/
When I finally got my computer put together and working, I
remember sitting there with my arms folded in front of it literally for at least a half hour trying to figure out what to do with this new piece of equipment and how to make it “pay”. After a few minutes of thinking that that all my “computer experience” in BASIC programming and electronic repair had absolutely nothing to do with anything when it came to figuring out a way to
have the computer be productive for me.
My wife (at the time) thought it was once again another
waste of time and money, although she did like playing with the clip art and publishing software that we found for it. Meanwhile, I struggled to come up with ways to make this computer be useful and the only things I could come up with were: writing letters, making fliers and some accounting, which I hated because I’m no accountant by any stretch of the imagination.
Learning The Internet: Shortly there after, we
discovered the Internet though we were not exactly sure what it was at the time. Some said it was a bunch of computers all tied together and others said it was an old networked system of computers that the government and certain colleges used to send files to each other. The only thing I knew for sure about the
Internet was that I could spend countless hours on it doing absolutely nothing productive.
Later in November of 1996, I ‘finally’ discovered a way
to “make money on the Internet” after two years of printing fliers and playing network games on the computer, which I was quite good at! My wife and I had 2 or 3 computers by that time that were all wired together so we could play network games on. One computer was hers and one was mine, but what we really
loved was this new thing called eBay. Since she and I also loved to go to garage sales and flea markets, eBay was right up
our alley. So we did the only logical thing: Start buying and selling on eBay.
We quickly became addicts and were on eBay every night
watching and bidding on auctions and when we were not busy with our day jobs, we were trying to sell products on eBay. What I quickly learned was that selling products on eBay was more of a “job” than was my real job. As you can see from my eBay account, I’ve been a member there for 10 years, but getting rich
on eBay was not working out well for me either.

I mean, running back and forth the post office everyday was
tiring and getting old, I had to think of some other way. Then I discovered what that was: Get my own website for my heating and cooling business, YES!
Working The Plan: Well now that I finally figured
out how to get rich on the Internet (i.e. getting my own website), the only problem was how to make it happen of course. To my surprise a new local store had recently popped up called, “Best Buy” and so I had to run to buy something called Microsoft FrontPage to “build it”. Learning FrontPage seemed to take forever, yet my long-term aspiration keep the flame alive until
finally “the website” was starting to take shape. There was only one problem… I had no idea how to get this website on the Internet.
So I called my dialup Internet Service Provider to ask
about this and within a few days and $450 dollars later, I had a domain name and a website on the Internet! In fact, I was so excited about it that I got a second domain name and website for an extra $150.
Later I realized that I paid too much for the domain name
because Yahoo was selling them for $35. “Oh-Well”, I thought to myself because I had more important fish to fry and getting a website that was making money was my first priority and I tried everything. Much later I discovered that not only was $35 too much, but I actually became a domain name reseller myself
(but that’s another story).

No Luck With Promotions: I mean, I literally tried
everything I could find on the Internet that had to do with getting visitors to my website. Nothing worked very well. In fact, I sort of quit trying for a while and just came to the realization that becoming the next eBay was not going to happen with my little website and so I used it for local customers to find out more info on the products they already bought and as a place to put “family photos” in a subdirectory of that website to share with family members in another State.
Exploring the Internet and finding ways to get traffic and
visitors to my website was a rabbit hole that I soon realized would never reveal its bottom. I mean, the rabbit hole seemed to go on forever and ever with no end in site and as soon as I found something that looked promising, it simply led to
the next thing and so on.
It was getting to the point that I could not even find
anything: I would start out looking to find something and as soon as I thought I was about to find it, something else showed up and looked more promising. This went on for a few years and even though I never found the “end all means to success” I did however get to figure out which ways worked (slightly) and which ways did not.
Doing All The Wrong Stuff First: Looking back I sort
of feel like how Thomas Edison explained, “The reason I never gave up is because after so many failed attempts at creating the incandescent lamp, surly I was bound to find the way that did work for I had tried so many ways that did not work”. Or something along those lines, that quote was from memory, but
basically – I learned so many ways that did not work, that sure I was about to discover some ways that did work, which isn’t far from the truth with just about anything you do in life. The point is, that you just have to keep doing whatever it is that you’re trying to do without ever quitting.
Or hire someone else to do it for you of course.
But since, I was either too broke or too stubborn to hire
anyone to do it for me (and sometimes both depending on my heating and cooling business), I just kept doing what I was doing: Submitting to search engines.
After some time, I got a little better at that and had some
realizations as to what I had been doing wrong over the years. Which by the way, is rather refreshing to discover what it is that you have been doing wrong because this is the first step to learning the right ways. I mean if you have all the answers, then how can you learn anything new? And if you have all the
answers, how come you’re not rich yet?
And speaking of hiring someone, in 2002 I thought to
myself, “Well Gee Wiz, (profanity omitted) – who does the ‘expert’ call when they need help?” Then I decided to do the most logical thing: Search the Internet for an SEO (Search Engine Optimizer) to help me! Then maybe I could learn what the real professionals were doing because surely there had to be a way, and submitting to search engines and PPC (Paid Per Click) systems was driving me crazy. So I called a few SEO companies and by this time, I had more than 75 domain names of my own and my own web hosting business: http://www.awesomewebhost.com/ with a dozen websites. I almost felt a little silly calling these people for help when I was suppose to be the expert myself but I called a couple of places and got quotes anywhere from $100 dollars a month up to $3,500 a year (and more depending on certain variables). Holy Smokes I thought to myself and since I could not afford another $200-$300 a month for website promotions (and that was just for one website)! Not to mention of course, that I had at least a half a dozen websites that I wanted to concentrate on and these guys were not about to teach me their secrets!!
Hiring Someone To Do it For You: Well since I did not
have an extra $200 - $300 a month per website in 2002, I managed to find a guy on the Internet that supposedly ‘knew his stuff’ but would only charge me $100 a month. He said that it would be on going with no real end in sight since there were no guarantees and SEO work was a temperamental business. “YOU
CAN SAY THAT AGAIN!” was my reply, because I agreed with him hands down on the issue about search engine submissions being a temperamental thing, though I did not like the idea about not having a time frame as to when I could stop sending
the $100 a month for that website work. If you remember from my story above, I had been pulling my hair out with search engine submissions for a number of years with no real success. Never the less, I was getting desperate and decided to go ahead and actually admit that I did not know everything about SEO work plus I really wanted to see what the potential of the Internet could do.
This expert also said that I could should continue “this campaign for as long or as little" as I wanted to and for however long it was necessary and that we should commit to at least a
6-month trial. I explained that money was a little tight and that I wanted to just try it without any commitments for now. He agreed and thank goodness he did too because after the first month I realized that I was paying this guy to do pretty much
what I had already been doing but with a few minor differences.
Wasting Time And Money: So after making a review of what he actually did, I was surprised to discover that there wasn’t really anything earth shattering that I had not been doing already except for a couple of things. Previously I had not been worried about Meta Tags or keyword density in the pages, I was just busy submitting to every little Mom and Pop Search Engine I could find. and trying to use automated submission software to submit to "thousands of places" around the Internet. On thing I learned for sure: Don’t kill yourself trying to submit your website to all the millions of minor search engines across the Internet! In my early days, I was confused because I wondered how anyone was suppose to find my website if I was not listed in all of
these engines? I could have kicked myself when he told me
something that I already knew… “The majority of all search engine traffic comes from the top 10 search engines so don’t worry about all those other places. Just concentrate on the top 5 or 10!"
Gee Wiz (profanity omitted), I thought to myself because I
already knew what he was trying to explain, I suppose I was just not concentrating on the right stuff I guess. But after paying someone else $100 to tell me something I already knew with the exception of a couple of minor twists to the puzzle I decided to thank him for his time and continue the battle alone. A little later, I wised up and decided to subscribe to some Webmaster newsletters and other webmaster websites with profound marketing tips, many of which I still use to this day.
Watching The Checks And the Wire Transfers Show Up: I don’t have to tell you how exciting it is to check your mailbox and find a bank check in there for a few hundred dollars because a website you promoted is actually having some results. It is equally exciting to check your email in the morning to discover that there has been another deposit or wire transfer to your bank account because of a certain website that you are promoting is beginning to show results.
Obviously I can not possibly tell you everything that I have learned in the last 10 years about Search Engine Optimizations due to the amount of time and energy it would take me to sit and type everything. For example, how long have you been sitting here this very moment just to get to this place where you
can relate with me and begin to trust me on what I am telling you is the truth?
So here is what I want to do for you to show my appreciation to you for taking time out of your busy schedule to read through all of this. As you can see, I have already shared a lot with you about my personal experiences in this article that I almost feel we’re buddies. And second, I would like for you to go ahead and sign up as a member here on this website (its free) so we can stay in the loop with each other.
http://www.extremewebmaster.com/Your_Account.html
I promise to never give out your email or send you Spam and I will only send you useful updates and other things you can do to improve your website. By signing up as a free member here I hope to provide you with the tools that you need for success and certain areas of this website are just off limits
to non-members.
A couple of things that I would like to leave you with are
as follows. These are a few things that I have come to discover about the Internet over the years and why you should join http://www.extremewebmaster.com/Your_Account.html
- The Internet is always changing and the best resources that you and I have for website promotions, are sharing knowledge to help each other.
- Each of us is valuable and brings pieces of the Internet Marketing puzzle together and if we share our knowledge, we can in effect help each other.
- Another thing I’ve learned is that some people have knowledge, some people have time, and some have money and if we work together, we can pool our resources
because let’s face it: There really is no One Internet Expert out there with ALL the answers, I don’t care who they think they are.
News You Can Use: One last thing about becoming a
free member here is that once you are a member, you can contribute articles like this one to tell the world some of the things that you have learned about being a webmaster. There will be special bonuses for those of you that do as this website grows. The more we share Webmaster articles like this, the more we help each other have success on the Internet. Let us not forget that knowledge alone is NOT power, only applied knowledge is power!
Now to give you what you came here for. I spent the first part of this article trying to tell you a little about myself to build your trust for me so that you can see that I am a real person and that I do care about your success on the Internet. Hopefully with what I wrote above, you were able to relate with me, as it is an all too familiar story about us webmasters. Below I will give you a list of things that I do for my clients, and it will be your job to decode that information if you plan on doing this SEO stuff by yourself (without my help).
Another Thing About Time And Money: If you have the time but not the money, then this free website is created for you. And likewise for those of you that do not have the time but do have the money (to hire someone else to do the things that you do not yet know or have the time to do); I always welcome new clients and look forward to working with you. If you are
interested to see what I can do for you and your website, then please click the following link to begin the process of optimizing your website.
Go ahead and sign up now, I guarantee you will be pleased with the results but just in case you’re still just a little skeptical, here are some things you can expect from me when you sign up for an SEO Campaign for your website:
- Full Meta Tag creation, insertion, customization and optimization for up to 10 of your pages to create highly usable pages that search engine robots and crawlers will enjoy indexing. No more wondering why certain pages are and are not being indexed on certain engines. From my examples it will be crystal clear what you need to do to the remainder of your pages if you have more than 10.
- Off loading any java scripting from your first 10 pages that may hurt your search engine rankings. Believe it or not, but if you are using frames and java scripting on your pages, certain search engine spiders are choking on your pages. I will help you fix this so that your pages will have a nice flavor that will make them want to return for more.
- Evaluating and optimizing your server or hosting space and requirements so that there are no limits or on files, directories or other things that search engine robots and crawlers might want to see.
- Rebuilding the way in which your email address is displayed on your first 10 pages so that Spam Bots cannot harvest it. If you have done any promotions on your own as of yet without protecting your email, then you already know what I am talking about and how valuable this is by itself in protecting you from more Spam.
- Edit your first 10 pages to present proper alt tags and teach you how to emulate what I am doing so that you can follow suit on your other pages or websites.
- Edit your pages and tags so that your first 10 pages are highly optimized for the specific keywords and key word phrases used on those pages and provide you with results and reports so that you can see what has been done and how it will improve your search engine rankings. Once you learn what I am doing, you may continue to implement this technique on all of your subsequent pages or other websites that belong to you if you so desire.
- Manually submit your website and pages to the major engines. I could sit here and say that it will be thousands of places, but if you read this article, then you already understand that this would be a waste of time and that we are only going to concentrate on the important ones. You will be provided with submission and progress reports so that you can see where your money is going and what I am doing to help you with your ROI (Return On Investment).
- I will also show you a number of useful tools that you can use to assist me with your website promotions as well as use these tools for your other websites. Some of these tools are optional and some will cost additional money but you can decide which to use and which not to buy. One for example will help you establish and build your reciprocal linking campaign, which could theoretically replace your need for search engine traffic by itself! Check the following link for the eBook that wrote on this very topic of reciprocal link building because the things you will find in that eBook will drastically help your website and many of those tactics will be implemented for you here with this SEO Campaign at no additional charge. If you buy the optional $67 reciprocal link software (required to establish your optional linking campaign) promoted in that eBook, I will give you the Ebook for free! And likewise, if you buy the eBook, I will install the software for you (for free) but you must use our server space so that I do not violate the software terms. (We have hosting plans as low as $3.99 a month). If you buy the eBook and I install the RM software for you for free, you will not be given license to use it on any other website other than the one it will be installed on. For more info about the optional eBook or optional linking software, go here: http://www.extremewebmaster.com/rlsp/index.htm
- I will also show you how to maximize your website income and how it can create even more income for you over and above the products you are already selling from your website.
- And of course, one of the most valuable things of all will be to fix or edit your page content (and rewrite it if necessary) so that when your new visitors actually do get to your site, they will like what they see. Getting visitors to your website is one thing, but converting them into customers is another and I will help you do this. I will also help you write more effect sales letters and optimize the layout and improve ways in which your website is presented so that it appears professional and well organized to convert even the most skeptical website visitor into a paying customer. This alone is worth your investment of my services as few websites convert their visitors into actual buying customers very well.
- What I will not do: I will not cheat you out of your hard earned money. I will not use any tactics that will get your website in trouble with search engines such as doorway pages, redirects, pop-ups, or any other thing that Google thinks might be harmful: http://www.google.com/intl/en/webmasters/seo.html
- And now for the moment of truth and the reason you came to read this article in the first place: Guaranteed Search Engine Results… The only way for me or anyone else to offer you guaranteed search engine results would be to set your website up to use a “Paid for Performance system” such as Google Adwords or some other PPC system of guaranteed placement or guaranteed inclusion, which would place your website in the Sponsored Listings or to absolutely guarantee that you will be listed and where. If you have the funds to support that kind of campaign or advertising, then fine, but that’s not what I am offering here and anyone that offers to do that for you with a guaranteed placement or guaranteed inclusion system without specifically saying so, is flat out lying to you! It is impossible to guarantee when, how or where you will be listed in a search engine unless you are using a PPC or Sponsored Listing and even then it is not always guaranteed but more likely to appear in the top 5 listings (depending on your financial budget).
I will do as I have described above or I will refund you your
money - I guarantee that. In other words, not only will I fix your website so that it is more search engine friendly, but I will also show you what I am doing so that you can stay informed and also learn this for your next or other website should your funds be limited and you don’t wish to hire me for that project.
The above 12 items that I will do for you will transpire
over the course of a 3 month period and you will be required to subscribe to a monthly PayPal subscription for $199 each month. You may cancel your subscription at any time but when you do, my services will also expire. I will perform item #1, #2, #3, & #4 during the first 30 days for your first subscription payment of $199. On the second payment and beginning of the second month, I will do item #5, #6, & #7. Then on your
third and final subscription payment (thus completing our contract), I will complete item #8, #9, & #10. At that point you should be well on your way to seeing some results with your website and even though I cannot guarantee the results as I indicated in item #12 above, I know that you will be happy with the work that I will do for you and you should be able to infer that from this rather lengthy article.
As you can see, there are no dancing mice and no special
flashing BONUS icons dancing all over the screen and no other gimmicks or tricks to get you to "Buy The Service”. If you do, that’s great and I look forward to working with you, but if you don’t then that’s fine too, I'm not going to spend any time trying to convince you how or why you need this, you already
know that you do...
